Ross's 3/26 update:

I just talked to Park Ranger "Gary" at the Woodson Bridge SRA. He said that nobody has been in the group campsite for the past 4 months. He also said that if our club members arrive fri. evening, they can put a sign on the campsite reserving it for Saturday. Club members arriving early on Saturday should go for the Group campsite (there is only one) and try to grab it.

This shouldn't be a problem, but knowing our luck.....

The weather is going to be perfect this weekend, I look forward to another Ranger problem i.e. Big Sur.

Regarding the tour Saturday morning: If we get a large turnout, 12+ bikes, we will break-up into 2 groups (if there is interest). After lunch there will be several route choices depending on experience, if you have a GS, and if your wife hates gravel/dirt roads. All options will finish in Lodoga and the tour will continue.

Ross's 3/23 update:

After preriding parts of this tour over the weekend I have made a couple of minor changes to the tour. Overall, I had a great time, the hills of the Napa Valley are green, the roads are great and Butts Canyon road is my new favorite road.

The new route includes a gas stop and new lunch stop in Clearlake. I also removed Leesville Road from the tour. This road is in horrible shape, broken asphalt, packed gravel in spots, and steep turns. I took Bob Loves suggestion for a detour and it is included in the route update. An updated GS option is also posted. This is Bear Valley road, which looks like packed gravel in good shape. The GS’ers will meet up with the rest of the tour in Lodoga.

It will be a great time and everyone will be riding at their own pace. Please be ready after breakfast with a full tank of gas.

March’s meeting will take place on Saturday, March 29 at 4:30pm at the Woodsen Bridge State Recreation Area in Corning, which is just northwest of Chico

The tour will leave from the Denny’s in Antioch (2006 Summersville Rd) at 8:30AM on the 29th.

New riders and new to the club riders are always welcome! Please contact me with any questions. The normal way things go is we meet for breakfast an hour before departure and then we start each ride with a meeting to go over some essential rules of the road and distribute maps. We review how to ride on highways, single lane roads and keeping an eye on the person behind you. While we might get spread out after a while, it is important to wait for the person behind you when we are at a stop sign or light. Our goal is to have fun and be safe.

Please contact the Tour Captain, Ross Felling at rsfelling@yahoo.com with any questions.
