June’s Election
meeting is 28th at 5:00 PM at Ewings
Restaurant in Kernville, near Lake Isabelle. It’s
on the main drag and their phone number
is 760.376.2411.
The Club will have it's
traditional free raffle (for Club Members)
at the meeting- lots of prizes this
year including a Garmin Legend GPS.
This is the Election
Meeting, the most important meeting
of the year, where we need to select the next board of
directors. The meeting will be held
at the restaurant, where libations
are available throughout the meeting, everyone should make an
effort to attend.
Dinner will be
at 7:00 PM and will be a buffet
including deep pit pork, beef ribs, chicken, potatoes, corn, etc.
This cost $15/person including
tip
and tax. You
MUST RSVP to
me by 6/20, via phone or email, so
we have an accurate number to give to the restaurant.
Camping for Friday and
Saturday night will be at the Live
Oak Campground (south sites)
which is 7 miles south of Kernville.
We have sites 1-18, which includes
flush toilets and showers (you’re being spoiled). I
expect temperatures in the low 90s, so bring your
swimsuit.
The tour will
leave at 8:00AM on the 28th from the Ding-a-Ling
Café at 155 Skylane dr. in Hollister
(831.637.1566). To get
there, come in on 25 S; take a left on Flynn Rd and another
left on 156 N. Please be ready with a full tank of
gas and an empty bladder. Promptly at 8 AM we will
leave the café detouring
around Hollister and then
south on 25 to 198 east through Coalinga
and into Visalia for lunch.
We’ll make a right onto Yokohl Dr. and follow that into 190
east into the Giant Sequoia National Monument. We’ll then take
the Western Divide Hwy south and cut over to Johnsondale. There,
we will take Sierra Way south into Kernville for dinner or continue
another 7 miles to the campsite.
This tour is 280 miles
of some great roads and beautiful scenery. All of the details are
on our web site.
If you can’t join us in Hollister, join us
on the route.
New riders and
new to the club riders are always welcome to
our tours
and
meetings! Please
contact me with
any questions. The normal way things
go is we meet for
breakfast an hour before the
tour departure
(if you are one of the first ones to arrive,
please
try to sit where
~10 of us can be
together) and then we start each ride with a
meeting
to go over some
essential rules of the road and distribute
maps. We review
how to ride on highways, single lane roads
and keeping
an
eye on the person
behind you. While
we might get spread out after
a while, it is
important to wait for the person behind
you when we are
at a stop sign or light. Please be ready
with a
full tank
of gas
and an empty bladder.
